Binge eating can be an exhausting cycle and seem as though there is no relief in sight. Living like this can be incredibly challenging, discouraging, and lonely.

Your entire life is suffering. You are watching as binge eating takes the aliveness out of all the things you love so much.  

That vitality, that freedom from food obsession, IT IS possible to find again.

 Why do people turn to binge eating?

Most times people use food as a way to manage emotions. We have all done it, we feel sad, mad, anxious, hurt, guilty, and then a large portion of those brownies are gone. Food is a relatively normal way that people cope with tough feelings.

With binge eating this coping is in excess, and occurs almost daily. It becomes one of the only ways that one can manage hard feelings, and it also becomes a way to avoid or numb feelings all together. Over time this becomes a habit, and the brain actually begins to depend on excessive eating to manage emotions.

In therapy we explore what feelings you are trying to avoid. You create space for those feelings, and you practice feeling them.

Our work together will involve a variety of mindfulness and self compassion tools aimed at increasing your emotional awareness and self soothing skills.

We will also explore the root issues of the emotions. Our work will be to uncover these areas, and create space for them to be processed.

In our work you will gain emotional awareness AND increased self soothing skills that will create a lasting impact on your relationship with food.
